"art is a verb"
you've described the winter color and light so perfectly ...
Isn't that blue beautiful...gorgeous blue shadows takes my breath away. As for the painting yes, squinting and enjoying twilight!
it's lovely .... and yes winter twilight is something that seems to want to protect and hide unto itself
I think snow is beautiful. Now, that I said that WILL IT GO AWAY! BTW you look as adorable in your grown up winter gear and when you were little. And, I'm betting you had a dress tucked inside that snowsuit when you were little. :)Bea
Beautiful, Nancy, squinting or not!
Your last pic reminds me of the one I took yesterday:http://www.flickr.com/photos/40420677@N06/4240675806/
Delightful, both the painting and the photos. You have such an eye.
Wonderful painting - squinting or not. And those pictures are stunning!
you captured winter in a special way!
squinting is good but not needed here-- all look great-- cold blue and stunning
love that your painting is so similar to many of your photos in your blog. How YOU see things! And sharing with us!
love the painting...the muted colors fading into each other...that's living...all things, beings, colors flowing into one another.
love the painting!! and you have totally captured winter in these photos! they are awesome!
Fantastic photos Neva - sharing the experience which I don't get in Melbourne. How white is white? The blues in the snow are gorgeous and I find the painting very appealing.Best wishes for 2010.
"Its spirit is protecting itself" - I like that. It appears to be a soft, gentle spirit.
I love the poem you left behind when you visited me earlier :)would it be ok if I use it in and art/heart journal I'm working on at my other blog?p.s. for this comment, the word verification is "whish":)
aw, my dear, your WHISH is my command...is that how that went?anyway, i'm flattered, and you may use anything of mine whenever you'd like. (i'll go back and reread what i wrote and keep a copy!)
Breathtaking, the photos and the painting. The painting is so soft and dreamy. Best to you in 2010.
Neva, the soft muted colors in your painting are lovely, I feel as if I were there. And your writing calls to me. I have been writing more this week. I received the books I ordered, the art book for children, "I am an Artist," and another that you quoted on your blog, by Pablo Neruda, "Stones of the Sky." Wow, I love them both, all I have to do is hold Stones of the Sky and I am in love with word again and again. Roxannep.s. I love the blueness of your winter so much too.
No squinting required - a lovely painting accented by your stunning photos!
