the new year called me
out into the blue crystal
light and shadow play
brought me in to finish
the tiny winter twilight
painting begun so
long ago (pretend you're squinting your eyes at the painting,
it just won't come into focus with my camera...it's spirit
is protecting itself, i guess, and i think it looks better
this way .. hmmmm, and grin)
AND PLEASE CHECK OUT MY FASHIONISTA WINTER GARB IN THE LAST POST. so many comments about my HOOD!
you've described the winter color and light so perfectly ...
ReplyDeleteIsn't that blue beautiful...gorgeous blue shadows takes my breath away. As for the painting yes, squinting and enjoying twilight!
ReplyDeleteit's lovely .... and yes winter twilight is something that seems to want to protect and hide unto itself
ReplyDeleteI think snow is beautiful. Now, that I said that WILL IT GO AWAY! BTW you look as adorable in your grown up winter gear and when you were little. And, I'm betting you had a dress tucked inside that snowsuit when you were little. :)Bea
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Nancy, squinting or not!

ReplyDeletesquinting is good but not needed here-- all look great-- cold blue and stunning
ReplyDeletelove that your painting is so similar to many of your photos in your blog. How YOU see things! And sharing with us!
ReplyDeletelove the painting...the muted colors fading into each other...that's living...all things, beings, colors flowing into one another.
ReplyDeletelove the painting!! and you have totally captured winter in these photos! they are awesome!
ReplyDeleteFantastic photos Neva - sharing the experience which I don't get in Melbourne. How white is white? The blues in the snow are gorgeous and I find the painting very appealing.Best wishes for 2010.
ReplyDelete"Its spirit is protecting itself" - I like that. It appears to be a soft, gentle spirit.
ReplyDeleteI love the poem you left behind when you visited me earlier :)
ReplyDeletewould it be ok if I use it in and art/heart journal I'm working on at my other blog?
p.s. for this comment, the word verification is "whish"

ReplyDeleteanyway,

(i'll go back and reread what i wrote and keep a copy!)
Beauty!
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking, the photos and the painting. The painting is so soft and dreamy. Best to you in 2010.
ReplyDeleteNeva, the soft muted colors in your painting are lovely, I feel as if I were there. And your writing calls to me. I have been writing more this week. I received the books I ordered, the art book for children, "I am an Artist," and another that you quoted on your blog, by Pablo Neruda, "Stones of the Sky." Wow, I love them both, all I have to do is hold Stones of the Sky and I am in love with word again and again. Roxanne
ReplyDeletep.s. I love the blueness of your winter so much too.
No squinting required - a lovely painting accented by your stunning photos!
