2011 SPARE PARTS, SKETCHBOOK PROJECT...finished my way!



DISCLAIMER: having to let go of preconceived notions w/ the 'fear of drawing' ever present,
'sketchbook' was an uneasy self-assignment. in the beginning, i loved developing the idea of SPARE
PARTS, scraps, fragments of my former attempts coming together w/purpose and this helped me
avoid 'actual drawing', which gradually warmed me to a place of comfort: i'll accept it all as process, but begin to CLAIM PAGES 45 and on....

this is being sent, one of 28,000 worldwide to the sketchbook project in brooklyn...check it out for next year

    Cool theme for a sketchbook and fun to see the pages. I will hunt through all 28,000 (!) journals to find yours when the Brooklyn exhibit opens.

    I can understand how using fragments of what you already had must have made it easier to get started. It's the beginning that can be so daunting. Great to see what you've been doing. One of 28,000 ! Wow!

    So glad I visited your blog today. What a wonderful assignment- to be challenged in this "uneasy" sketchbook project. Sometimes, simplicity actually says so much- even if you don't always see or hear it. Love all the pages- with my favorite being the window one. Just majestic.

    I also love this journal, made of spare parts... your lines and watercolors flow through the pages, and the music you chose is moody and sultry. Beautiful job... I am so happy I stopped by today. roxanne

    This is wonder-full!!! It was a daunting "assignment" for me - glad I got it completed!! When the exhibit comes to DC, I will look yours up when I go to visit mine!!!!!!

    oh, nice!! seth apter says he'll look us up in brooklyn, and unfortunately, when it comes to chicago, i'll be in taos...i'll rely on seeing books posted! so, who knew we'd be traveling together via our books!
